About

Grand Canyon Hotel & Suites sits right on AZ-64 in Grand Canyon Village, close enough to the South Rim that guests have finished a morning on the Bright Angel Trail and been back for lunch before the afternoon train from Williams pulls in. Despite the budget-sounding name, the Xanterra-operated property has been renovated well past its original rate class — rated 4.2 from nearly 2,800 Google reviews, with several guests noting the rooms and bathrooms feel more upscale than the price tier suggests.

What's included

Rooms come with a mini-fridge and Keurig coffee maker, and the hotel offers free Wi-Fi and a complimentary continental breakfast — yogurt, fruit, pastries, bagels, and cereal, served without hot items, though guests get a 20% discount coupon for a restaurant across the road that does serve hot breakfast. An indoor pool and hot tub are on site, both frequently mentioned by reviewers as a welcome reset after a day outdoors. Reviews are mixed on room size and noise levels, and a few travelers flag maintenance issues, so it's worth booking with reasonable, not five-star, expectations.

  • Location: 226 AZ-64, Grand Canyon Village — minutes from the South Rim entrance
  • Amenities: indoor pool, hot tub, free breakfast, free Wi-Fi, in-room mini-fridge and Keurig
  • Good to know: parking can be tight during peak season

For travelers who want to be steps from the park without paying in-park lodging premiums or booking a year out, this is a solid, well-located option — just know it's a busy, high-turnover hotel rather than a boutique stay.

I was really disappointed with the parking spot options and the breakfast items. they were incredibly inconsiderate of many’s dietary needs and they assumed everyone eats HAM

We only stayed one night, but my kids wish it would have been longer. The rooms were fairly large, the beds were comfy, the shower water pressure was good, internet was fast, and as a family of six, we appreciated the connecting rooms. Breakfast was standard continental breakfast fare, but had hard boiled eggs and Greek yogurt to get the protein in. All of the staff was super friendly and helpful. My husband and I enjoyed the walkability of the area - can walk down to the IMAX or to Starbucks or to dinner. And it was a quick drive to get to Grand Canyon National Park South Rim visitor center, so this hotel was perfect for our needs of having just an afternoon before and then the next half day at the park.

Only stay here if you want the absolute worst, most uncomfortable bed you’ve ever been in. It’s currently 3:30 am, and even after barely getting any sleep the night before, AND hiking around in the Grand Canyon, I still can’t fall asleep on this thing. Absolutely terrible.
